Ange Postecoglou might just have found one solution to Tottenham’s big January problem…
It’s time for the latest episode of Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham as our Spurs correspondents Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest discuss everything going on at the club
With their convincing victory over Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways, and Ange Postecoglou’s team will have learned a lot from their performance in the coming weeks.
In addition to returning players from injury and playing in the FA Cup, Premier League, and a short winter break, Spurs will also be missing captain Son Heung-min from the Asian Cup and players Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Son was in fine form against Newcastle, providing two assists and a goal to take his tally to 10 in the Premier League this season. However, Postecoglou did at least get one boost ahead of the South Korean’s departure next month to the tournament in Qatar with the injury-free Richarlison returning and impressing through the centre of the attack.
The Brazilian scored twice in an all-action performance and it showed that at least Postecoglou will have a central striker to cover for Son in that role, if Richarlison can now steer clear of further injury woes. His return to the middle means Son’s absence can instead be absorbed as best possible by the remaining fit and available wingers with Manor Solomon also on the road to recovery.
Our Tottenham correspondents Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest discuss all of the above in the latest episode of their Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast while delving deep into the win against Eddie Howe’s side and the incoming new contract for Destiny Udogie.
