The most recent information on the Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario contract has been provided by Fabrizio Romano.

Romano had stated yesterday that the Italian goalie is scheduled to travel to England for the North London club’s physical.

Additionally, he has provided an update stating that the player landed in London today to do his physical and then sign a deal with Spurs. He also said that this week will see the official announcement of the deal.

“Guglielmo Vicario is in London right now to finish his medicals as Tottenham’s newest signing,” he tweeted. This week, a deal will be announced.

The arrival of Vicario at Tottenham could potentially hasten the departure of their veteran goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris.

He only has one year left in his current contract and the club are keen on cashing in on him following a poor season from the Frenchman.

He has been linked with several clubs, including Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, who are reportedly willing to triple his wages at Spurs. Other potential destinations for Lloris include his hometown club Nice and Italian giants Inter Milan, who are seeking a replacement for Onana.

Tottenham acted swiftly in securing the signing of Guglielmo Vicario, completing the entire process from identifying him as a target to finalising personal terms and agreeing on a fee with Empoli, in just a couple of days. This expeditious deal-making is not something Spurs are known for leaving fans pleasantly surprised.

The deal will see the highly rated Italian shot-stopper join Spurs for €19 million, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028.
