unless snooker chiefs raise “too cheap” prize money, breaking news

When it comes to 147 breaks in snooker, Ronni O’Sullivan has said he is “on strike” unless the prize money is raised.

The snooker player has had an incredible career on the felt, hitting 15 maximums.
Gary Wilson recorded the 199th 147 break in the history of the game at the Welsh Open.

Wilson, who was commentating for Eurosport in Llandudno, defeated John Higgins in the semi-final.

O’Sullivan was questioned over his record of breaking 147s in the sport following Wilson’s accomplishment.

The 48-year-old O’Sullivan maintained that before he retires, he could definitely hit a couple more.
He stated: “I reckon another five or six, but I went on strike a long time ago.”

O’Sullivan demanded that he continue the strike until snooker bosses “start bumping up the prize money” in response to a question about his willingness to do so.

He was asked if he would start aiming for 147s if the reward was £147,000.

O’Sullivan replied with a fast “Yeah”.The Rocket scored a 146 at the Welsh Open in 2016 after complaining that the prize money for hitting a maximum was “too cheap”.

Speaking at the time, he stated, “I could have made a 147 if I had gotten on the black.”

“I just felt that was a little too cheap, even though I knew it was ten thousand.

“Creating a maxi is such a huge accomplishment, and I believe it’s worth a little bit more if they’re willing to pay us ten thousand dollars for it.

When the prize increases a little, I’ll aim for the 147.

“A 146 is just as good!”

The maximum break prize money at last year’s World Snooker Championship was £40,000.

O’Sullivan made the decision to manage his health and wellbeing rather than participate in the Welsh Open this year.

This season, he has chosen not to participate in seven ranking tournaments.
