AMAZING! ONLY HAPPENED! ANOTHER GREAT CONTRACT SIGNED BY THE EAGLES! PHILADELPHIA EAGLES NEWS
Eagles Must Address Trio of Key Contracts This Offseason
PHILADELPHIA: Though that’s what’s now in the public eye, the Philadelphia Eagles have more plans for the summer than simply their coaching staff.
Howie Roseman, the general manager, will soon have to focus on the contracts of the players.
The Eagles must decide on a number of important free agents, including:
Linemen on defense Cox Fletcher and Graham Brandon
Backup offensive linemen Sua Opeta and Driscoll, Jack
Boston Scott and D’Andre Swift, two running backs
Zach Cunningham, Shaq Leonard, and Nicholas Morrow are the three linebackers.
Braden Mann, a punter
Others who most likely won’t make a comeback include cornerback Bradley Roby, running back Rashaad Penny, and receivers Julio Jones, Quez Watkins, and Olamide Zaccheaus.
Three of them are under contract, but the Eagles should still keep an eye on them this summer
They are Landon Dickerson, DeVonta Smith, and Haason Reddick.
Let’s examine the three in more detail:
Reddick. After agreeing to a three-year contract that would expire in 2022, the pass rusher made it clear early in the season that he would prefer a contract extension. With 19.5 sacks, including his postseason effort, he had a strong case.
Reddick never gave it any attention. He performed and played well, having practiced. In the last year of that agreement, his salary cap charge for this year is a whopping $21.8 million.
For a player who turns 30 in September and is performing at a very high level, there is undoubtedly a need for a restructuring with a few extra years.
Furthermore, Reddick, a native of the other river in Camden, New Jersey, is eager for it to occur.
“It will always hold special meaning for me every time I get to wear that midnight green and play in an Eagles uniform,” he remarked in the locker room at Raymond James Stadium following the season’s last game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I will always hold a particular place in my heart for a local child who grew up watching the Eagles, regardless of our results.
“Every chance I get to wear the Eagles uniform will always be special to me because I was raised in the NFC East,” the player said.
Dickerson. Dickerson is a steal as a 2021 second-round draft selection, with a basic salary of $1.8M in the contract’s last year. He just received his second Pro Bowl selection and stated, “If it keeps snowing,” he would most likely participate in the game, which takes place in Orlando on the first weekend in February.
The offensive lineman is too important to the long-term future of this team and has performed too well to be allowed to finish out his rookie deal as a lame duck.
On the day of the team’s separation, Dickerson stated that he wants to stay in Philadelphia for a long time but will let his agency handle such things.
He declared, “I would love to stay here and pursue my career here.” After hearing a few guys discuss it, they return and say that switching to a different team was the worst thing they have ever done. If it were up to me, I would want to work here for the duration of my career, but I understand that it’s a business endeavor and that you have to do whatever it takes to help the company flourish.
I adore this place so much. My spouse and I adore this place. It serves as our home. Here, in the off-season, we reside. We are not located elsewhere.
I have no intention of relocating elsewhere.
SMITH. The receiver’s fifth-year option will undoubtedly be picked by the Eagles this spring. Though he only makes $1.05 million on base, this year he will also be paid a guaranteed $3.4 million plus a $6.04 million cap charge.
With eight receptions for 148 yards, Smith was the only Eagles player to participate in the playoff defeat. He’s simply too talented and dependable to be kept waiting too long for a new deal. The earlier, the better.
A.J. Brown, who has a salary cap charge of $12.4 million this year that increases to $26.5 million in 2025, may have an impact on some of the decisions the Eagles make in this area.
In any case, Smith will receive a fresh offer at some point. An organization such as the Eagles would never let a guy they moved up two places to No. 10 with the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 draft to walk away—a move that made it possible for Dallas to choose Micah Parsons two choices later.
