BREAKING NEWS: Leeds United Made a “RUDE” statement about the QPR at Loftus Road
During a campaigner’s anti-knife crime speech at Loftus Road on Friday night, Leeds United fans appeared to jeer.
The Leeds United Supporters’ Trust (LUST) has expressed sincere regret to Dr. Mark Prince OBE, QPR, and supporters following the appearance of booing by away fans during the campaigner’s halftime statement about combating knife crime.
During the intermission, Dr. Prince used the platform to discuss the work of The Kiyan Prince Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 2008 in honor of his son Kiyan. Kiyan was a bright young man who attended the QPR youth academy and was stabbed to death at the age of 15 in 2006 while peacefully breaking up a fight outside his school.
The Foundation, which aims to assist those at danger of being involved in juvenile violence, has a tight relationship with the football team. Leeds United supporters could be heard jeering in the School End as Dr. Prince updated the audience on the charity’s activities. The campaigner expressed his annoyance at the behavior while he spoke.
After the game, Dr. Prince posted on X, saying, “It was funny how they shut up when I said u really booing you got family you got kids to haven’t you? I’m here to help them poor ignorant Leeds United fans see the light they truly let their club down #poorbehaviour.” A loud cheer of “you guys are the best” was then burst out by the Rrss.
On behalf of the fans, LUST apologized on Saturday, stating that the speaker system at Loftus Road prevented away supporters from hearing the address. The statement said as follows: “LUST and LUSC would like to address and sincerely apologize for the jeering that occurred during Mark Prince’s speech at halftime of last night’s game.
“To put things in perspective, during Mark’s address, the fans in the away end reacted in a frustrated and regrettable fashion since they could not see the big screen or hear the information being uttered.
“After speaking with us, Leeds United stated that they were not informed that Mark would be speaking at halftime, otherwise
Before the game, messages would have been sent to the supporters. In addition, the club will personally apologize to Mark and QPR for the incident.
As a group of supporters who are well aware of the risks associated with knife crime, we would like to reassure Mark’s family and the larger QPR community that, had our supporters recognized the significance and delicate nature of the speech last night, Leeds supporters would not have reacted in the manner that they did.
We also wish to commend the Kiyan Prince Foundation for its excellent efforts. We sincerely apologize to QPR, the supporters, Mark, and his family.”
