Braves Secure Spot on the Roster Before MLB All-Star Weekend.

A slot on the Atlanta Braves’ 40-man roster has opened up.

Utilityman Brian Anderson was outright sent to Triple-A Gwinnett by the Braves, according to David O’Brien of The Athletic on Monday. Anderson is no longer included among the team’s 40 players as a result of the relocation.

Over the weekend, there was no word that Anderson had been placed on waivers by the Braves. Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors, however, stated that Anderson “appears” to have avoided being claimed after clearing waivers, which was necessary for the Braves to outright send Anderson to Triple-A.
After outrighting Anderson on Monday, the Braves failed to make a countermovement, leaving an opening on their 40-man roster. The team will most likely fill that hole following Tuesday’s All-Star Game but prior to Friday’s commencement of the weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

This season, Anderson made three appearances for the Braves. In five plate appearances, he struck out twice and failed to reach base. He also made a double play after grounding.

Anderson hit.226 with 24 extra-base hits and a.678 OPS in 318 at-bats during his final season with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The majority of Anderson’s Major League Baseball career has been with the Miami Marlins. He turned 31 in May. He has played in 630 games, hit.251 with an OPS of.738, 66 home runs, and 273 RBI in eight MLB seasons.

In the 2018 season, Anderson came in fourth place in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. Anderson had a.266 batting average, a.765 OPS, and 42 home runs from 2018 to 20.

On June 4, Anderson was signed by the Braves following his release by the Seattle Mariners from their Triple-A farm organization. Anderson has slashed at Triple-A with the Braves and Mariners this season.253/.346/.411 with 28 RBI and 6 home homers.

The Braves will begin the second half of the MLB season Friday at home against the Cardinals.
