Best Seasons for the Maple Leafs Since 2005.

The Maple Leafs had a successful 2022–2023 season. Toronto advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2004. This might seem unremarkable to many teams. But it had been so long since Leaf supporters had that sensation that it was almost as if the team was cursed. It may still be argued, though, that they haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1967. In any case, Leaf supporters’ hearts were warmed by skipper John Tavares. In Game 6 over the Tampa Bay Lightning, he scored the game-winning overtime goal.A number of memorable moments occurred during the journey to the playoffs. The Maple Leafs embarked on an amazing 15-game run without losing in regulation earlier in the season. The Leafs’ general manager at the time, Kyle Dubas, made a significant transaction later in the season. Almost a month ahead of the trade deadline, he added forward Ryan O’Reilly from the St. Louis Blues to assist improve their roster. He earned four points, including a hat-trick against the Buffalo Sabres, in just his third game. Ultimately, the previous Conn Smythe winner played a significant role in Toronto’s 2023 playoff improvement. For Leafs supporters, seeing a player of that caliber join the team was entertaining.2021–2022
The Maple Leafs made history the season before that one, registering their best regular season result in the team’s history. With 115 points, they were second in the Atlantic Division and fourth overall in the league behind the Florida Panthers. The Leafs by Sheldon Keefe won a season total of 54 games. The fact that this was the first season that they could go back to the rink to watch games after Covid restrictions were relaxed made it enjoyable for the fans.

Auston Matthews, the new Maple Leafs captain, had an equally amazing season. He had never before scored 100 points in his career—106, to be exact. He also reached a career high of 60 goals in this year, achieving his 60th in style with two goals in their final regular season matchup against the Detroit Red Wings.
Matthews had an incredible season to the point where he was given the Hart Trophy at the conclusion of the campaign. The standout forward was only the third Maple Leafs player to win the Hart Trophy in franchise history. Ted Kennedy won the prize in 1955, the last time it had occurred. During that unforgettable season for the Leafs, Matthews also took home his second Rocket Richard Trophy and the Ted Lindsay award.

2020–21 All NHL clubs had strange and unforgettable seasons in 2020–21, and the Leafs were no exception. First of all, because of COVID-19, there were no fans in the building to watch any games, at least not throughout the first part of the season. The league also had a new appearance because all of the divisions were reorganized. Every Canadian team was placed in a single division and had to play their games in the newly created divisions. This was done in order to restrict team travel as well as the difficulty of crossing the border between Canada and the United States.

The North Division, which was the all-Canadian division, was dominated by Toronto. With 77 points in 56 games, they defeated the Edmonton Oilers by five points to secure the division. In the opening round of the playoffs, they faced the Montreal Canadiens. The Leafs also remember those playoffs, but not for the good reasons. The Leafs vs. Habs game was very interesting because of the two teams’ lengthy history together. Despite these two teams having been around for more than a century, this particular postseason series hasn’t occurred since 1979. It was an intensely physical series with some o
