FLORENCE, ORLANDO — In his first remarks since the Bills were eliminated from the playoffs, wide receiver Stefon Diggs acknowledged his sorrow over the team’s season-ending defeat but also hinted at some uncertainty about his future in Buffalo.
When questioned on Friday about his outlook for Buffalo, Diggs—who is playing in this weekend’s Pro Bowl Games—gave a response that may be seen as ambiguous.
“I feel like I take it day by day,” he stated. “Obviously, a lot is happening—a lot of things are changing. You know what I mean when I say that I can’t truly put the carriage before the horse? However, I have a fantastic offseason ahead of me to work hard and kind of build on what we have and are doing.
“I can’t tell you what the future holds, but I’m still being me.”
In response to a question about his readiness to go with the Bills, Diggs said, “I’m ready to go no matter which way it goes.” He didn’t go into detail.
Before his team’s victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild-card round, Diggs had not talked with reporters, and he consistently declines to participate in post-game media interviews. Since he hasn’t responded, rumors regarding Diggs’ future in Buffalo have surfaced.
When questioned about his future earlier in the season, Diggs remained firm, responding, “I’ve never really stated anything about being dissatisfied or any instance of that. I have spoken real things, therefore I get a little upset when people infer things about me that I have never said. I’ve repeated the same remarks repeatedly.”
In the Bills’ divisional playoff defeat to Kansas City, Diggs had his lowest-scoring game of the year with three receptions for 21 yards. With eight targets, his catch % dropped to 37.5, which is his second-lowest of the season.
