Kasey Palmer missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Swansea, according to Coventry manager Mark Robins. The Sky Blues are already preparing for this weekend’s meeting against Sunderland.
Palmer started Coventry’s opening two league games of the current season, which included a 3-0 victory against Middlesbrough and a 2-1 victory at Leicester. Palmer made 30 Championship appearances for Coventry last season.
When questioned about the 26-year-old’s absence from the Coventry squad, Robins responded, “He’s not injured, he simply has a family situation that he needs to deal with.
Matt Godden’s goal for the Sky Blues versus Swansea gave them the lead in the 39th minute. The hosts responded two minutes later with an equalizer from Jerry Yates.
Full-back for Coventry Twenty minutes before the end, Milan van Ewijk was also pulled off due to an injury, but it wasn’t regarded to be significant.
When asked about the defender, Robins responded, “I’m told it’s a toe injury so hopefully he’ll be ok.”
Ellis Simms, a former Sunderland striker, started the team’s first two league games until coming off the bench against Swansea with 11 minutes left.
Following his summer transfer from Everton for a rumoured value of £3.5 million, which may increase to £8 million if Coventry are promoted to the Premier League, the 22-year-old is yet to score for his new team.
When Sunderland last visited Coventry in February, Tony Mowbray’s team won 2-1, with Amad scoring a late consolation goal at the CBS Arena.
The Sky Blues advanced to the play-off final in the previous season before falling to Luton at Wembley on penalties.
