SADLY: JOSE IS LEAVING WOLVES AND NEW GOALKEEPER ARRIVES TODAY

Half a year after spending big money on Odysseas Vlachodimos from Olympiacos and Matt Turner from Arsenal, Marinakis is willing to pay for a transfer for a home goaltender.

However, the team must stick to its budget to prevent any FFP issues.

Jose Sa of Wolves is a man Forest is very interested in.

But the Portuguese stopper would come with a hefty price tag.
And the Reds might not be able to accomplish it just now.

Thus, Marinakis is actively searching for possible loan captures through his networks.

A possible solution would be Keylor Navas’s comeback.

The Costa Rican impressed with 17 outings while on loan at Forest the previous season.

Navas is now back at PSG under ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.

But he is out of the side to Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

And his two appearances have both come in the French Cup.

Navas’ wages are huge at a reported £200,000 a week.

But they may come within Forest’s reach following last term’s switch.

The City Ground club are 16th in the table after just five wins, and are only four points above the drop zone.

Marinakis showed Steve Cooper the door before hiring Nuno Espirito Santo.

And he wants to halt Forest’s leaky defence which has already conceded 38 goals.

FootballTransfers can confirm that Nottingham Forest is once more interested in acquiring Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jose Sa.

In an attempt to replace former Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner, who has made a number of high-profile errors this season, particularly when the ball is at his feet, new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is eager to add his compatriot.

Though Santo left Wolves to manage Tottenham several weeks before Sa arrived at the Midlands club in 2021, we have been told that he was instrumental in the 30-year-old’s arrival, along with Bruno Lage, his replacement in the Wolves dugout.

The Portuguese international was recommended to Nuno by former scouts of Porto when at Wolves. Sa already played under Santo in Portugal and now, according to our source, the latter wants to bring him to his new club.

Wolves need to sell

Interestingly, Sa already rejected Forest in the summer – several months before Santo arrived at the club – to sign a new contract at Wolves. However, we are told that this was not necessarily due to a firm conviction in the project.

At the time, Wolves were looking to sign as many players to extended contracts as possible with a view to eventually getting more money for them when they are sold.

Wolves are now struggling to bring in players permanently in January because they are heavily impacted by Financial Fair Play, therefore they may be forced to sell some high-profile players to be able to strengthen their squad.

Wolves has already had to let go of players for almost €170 million. In order to avoid the possibility of punishment for violating the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, eleven players left the team permanently in the summer. Regretfully, they still have to sell in order to acquire.

The ownership group of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fosun, purportedly accrued debts amounting to $40 billion (€37 billion) at one point due to increased scrutiny surrounding Guo Guangcha.
