Matt Rhule and Nebraska just got a major boost from Bruce Feldman’s bold take Bruce Feldman sees a path for Nebraska to exceed its 7.5 win projection, and his reasoning should excite Husker fans. By Oliver Vandervoort | 14 hours ago Dustin Satloff/GettyImages Dustin Satloff/GettyImages The Nebraska football team is quite optimistic about 2025. Some believe they could even be a dark horse playoff contender. However, to do that, they’ll need to surpass their projection of 7.5 wins this season. The good news is that at least one analyst believes the Huskers could do just that. Bruce Feldman of The Athletic recently analyzed several teams’ win projections and compared them to who he thought would perform better and who might perform worse. Feldman believes the Huskers can do better than those projected win totals.
Most Vegas experts project the Nebraska football team to have a win total of 7.5 in 2025. That means anyone betting the over thinks the Huskers will win 8 or more games. Those betting the under-think NU will, at best, equal their record from a year ago when they went to a bowl for the first time in almost a decade.
Why Bruce Feldman thinks Nebraska is better than Vegas believes
Feldman started by understanding that some might think he’s silly for believing the Huskers could win more than 7.5 games. However, he then laid out his persuasive case, which should fire up NU fans.
“Holgorsen is one of the brightest offensive minds in college football, and now he has an entire offseason to fire up the playbook. I’ve heard Raiola has been outstanding. The Huskers don’t have a lot of speed aside from Jacory Barney, who was a freshman last year, but RB Emmett Johnson’s a good back, and they added two good transfer WRs, most notably Dane Key from Kentucky.”
Feldman added that the Huskers have a very favorable early schedule that could see them start 5-1 at worst:
“Opening with Cincinnati, Akron, and Houston Christian. It doesn’t play a true road game until mid-October against Maryland. Starting 5-1 seems very plausible. The second half of the schedule looks tougher, but they get Northwestern, USC, and Iowa in Lincoln.”
Nebraska football fans certainly hope that Feldman is right. There’s still several months until we get to see whether he is or not.
