There are still no takers for Lyle Taylor.

Carlton Palmer tips Birmingham City to move for Lyle Taylor

As teams evaluate potential free players for reinforcements, Lyle Taylor, a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest, might soon find a new club.
Taylor should go back to Birmingham City, according to Carlton Palmer, who notes that the team is in need of a striker.
Taylor could give Birmingham City’s strike force the depth it so needs, even if the team has made astute purchases throughout the transfer window and is off to a strong start in the Championship.
Even though the transfer window closed earlier this month, clubs can still use the free agent market to their benefit.

33-year-old Lyle Taylor, an international for Montserrat, was one among the players released by Nottingham Forest this summer who were left without a team. His next move will probably happen soon because teams can no longer buy players and must instead determine whether they need reinforcements by looking at the free agents that are available to them.

At the beginning of his career, Taylor struggled, bouncing about for longer than a year at a time. He then relocated from Bournemouth to Falkirk before detonating.

He scored 29 goals in 46 games during his one season in Scotland, which led to a transfer to Sheffield United. Taylor’s move to Charlton and subsequently Forest was preceded by further appearances at Wimbledon and Scunthorpe United.

Only eight goals were scored throughout his 61 appearances, thus he never quite reached the levels anticipated in Nottingham.

Ex-England international, Carlton Palmer has told Football League World which club should go in for Taylor now that he is a free agent.

He said: “Lyle Taylor is another player who is still without a club after leaving Nottingham Forest. He is attracting a lot of attention from various Championship and League One clubs.

“I think that a return to Birmingham City would be a good move for him. John Eustace is in the market for a striker, and the 33-year-old could fit the bill.”

Palmer added: “He had a loan spell at Birmingham in 2022, scoring five goals in 14 games. It could be a win-win for Birmingham City and the player.”

Many have hailed Birmingham City as the winners of the Championship transfer window, thanks to a number of shrewd signings that could see them skyrocket up the table.

The Blues strengthened in most areas of the pitch, as 12 new faces entered the Second City side. Marquee signings included: Jay Stansfield on loan from Fulham, former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dion Sanderson, left-back Lee Buchanan and ex-Bournemouth star Sikiri Dembele.
