Christie Sides, the head coach of the Indiana Fever, expressed her dissatisfaction following her team’s humiliating 36-point loss against the New York Liberty on Thursday night. Sides didn’t hold back at her post-game press conference, calling the Fever’s performance “unacceptable,” particularly considering it was their home opener.

She underlined the need for development and conveyed her unhappiness with the team’s failure to perform well enough on the court to inspire the fans. Sides said, “We need to perform better. With everything we do on the floor, we have to make the supporters proud. And I’ll accept it. That’s not what we did tonight. And that’s not acceptable.
However, things are not getting any better for Sides and his squad as they lost to Liberty this past Saturday. While the team did show some improvement, there is still much room for growth, and the margin of defeat was not as great.

In response to a reporter who brought up the Fever’s previous season’s troubles and asked how the club can improve, Sides said that experience is a must and that lineup adjustments should be made. She also emphasized the team’s practice emphasis on defense.

With the addition of Caitlin Clark this season, the pressure on the Sides has increased, and the Fever is expected to constantly put on outstanding performances. Even though the squad shown moments of tenacity and came within five points of Liberty, losing by eleven points despite Clark having her best game to date, things are still not looking good for Sides.

To dispel questions about their ability in the face of increasing pressure, Sides and the Fever need to get back together and show tremendous progress in their next games. As she attempts to get her team back on track, Sides is aware of the obvious difficulty that lies ahead.
